As the days shorten, the arrival of Advent and the prospect of Christmas, bring light and hope to the dark days of winter. Once again, the Priory of St. Bartholomew the Great in Smithfield was the venue for the Feltmakers’ Carol Service.
The familiar combination of readings, music (exquisitely performed by the choir and organist) and congregational carols in this most atmospheric of churches ensured that the Christmas spirit permeated amongst the Feltmakers gathered together.
Our chaplain the Rev. Andrew Pritchard Keens presided and preached. He reminded us how an insignificant town, Bethlehem, was the birthplace of God made man. Jesus was born for everyone and is the greatest gift of all; any other gifts we receive at Christmas are mere stocking fillers in comparison.
Following the service, the Master hosted a very happy and convivial drinks reception in the church cloisters.
